Artist, Teacher, and Friend

Andrea currently lives and works in Northern Maine. Relocating during the pandemic to be near family, the change of location prompted a shift in Andrea’s professional focus. Surrounded by the beauty of the Katahdin Region, the wild woods and waters have also shifted the pace and scale of Andrea’s art practice. Her desire, at Rosselle Studios, is to create art that can adorn our lives, as well as art that is small scale, affordable and beautiful.

Andrea has a BFA and MA concentrating in Ceramic Art, and an MFA in the Visual Arts. She taught art for twenty five years, a decade of which was in an Independent Middle School. Andrea has taught K-12 Art, High School and College level Ceramics, as well as community art classes. She has taught at public, private, charter, and international schools. Andrea still takes on a few private students a year, please inquire if interested.

Andrea’s philosophy of art is rooted in the belief that all people are creative, a God given gift, and that engaging in the Creative Process can be healing, contemplative, enlightening, and spiritual. Creating is also a functional process requiring skill, education, practice, and iteration. The desire is often divine, but the practice is hard work.

Working alongside Andrea in her business is her husband and creative partner David Goodwin. David assists Andrea in many aspects of her creative work such as firing, technology, and making Andrea many cups of tea.
